Picture books contain literary elements and structures in their visuals. We teach Chinese learners to engage in discussion and analysis, and production of their own forms of learning outcomes through close viewing. The learning outcomes can be a thank you card, restaurant menu, mini book, Show-and-Tell, etc.
P.1 to P.6 students receive one Picture Book lesson every week. We assign classic Chinese literature works to students as a compulsory reading in Key Stage 2. Picture Book Lesson blends academic learning with character and well-being so as to enhance students’ moral and affective development. Students take advantage of the passionate reading environment to love reading and discovery. Learning through activities like Role Play and Pop Quiz which are student-oriented arouse students to think critically. We would like our students make the practice of lifelong learning a priority in their life.
