Cherishing Human Connections

COVID-19 began last year when all of us first heard of this name, while being unaware about its whereabouts and cause. The number of people getting infected keeps rising on a daily basis. People felt strange, not knowing what this COVID-19 might be, yet worried due to the arise of this new coronavirus. I'm sure everyone was filled with these thoughts, 'What is going on?' 'How can so many people be infected each day so quickly?' 'How do we protect ourselves and our loved ones?' 'When will this nightmare end?'
This pandemic has undoubtedly brought lots of troubles to our daily lives. Families and friends are separated physically. Cities are silenced. The schools that once used to be filled with children's laughter have now become eerily silent.
But try looking at the bright side! Think about what we have gained during this time. We have tried learning new things, those that we had never tried before or those that we had no time to try before. For instance, I looked for recipes online and baked different kinds of food at home and then shared them with my family and friends. Now that it's not as easy to meet our friends and relatives as often as we could like before, I bet we have also learnt how important it is to treasure and appreciate the people around us.
Even with all the problems that we are facing, let's not forget this saying, "Like the rainbow after the rain, joy will reveal itself after sorrow." Let's all do our part and take care of ourselves during this pandemic. Nobody knows how long this will take, but what we can do is to hope that things will be in place soon. Care for the people around you and be grateful to the people who make you happy.
