08 Celebrating the Official Opening of our Sports and Arts Building
Thankful to God that the ‘Opening Ceremony of Sports and Arts Building’ on November 22nd marked the historical milestone for WFJLPS and the opening of the new building served to witness a new era of school development. This implies that WFJLPS can have more flexibilities in resource management as well as organising any future school improvement measures. What a warm blessing to us!
Having received very positive feedbacks from our guests and all participants who attended the ceremony, it was evident that the Opening Ceremony was a great success! It was a sunny day and we were honoured to have two very important guests to be with us on this day. The Honourable Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, GBM, GBS, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration, delivered a keynote speech. He shared his vision on how schools like WFJLPS can make best use of government resources to promote quality education and how all-rounded education as well as student potentials can be adequately released and developed. His Eminence Cardinal John Tong Hon led all audiences to pray and conducted the blessing services for the Sports and Arts Building.
The Opening Ceremony attracted around 200 external guests coming from various directions. Some were Government Officials, some were District Leaders while some were Councilors of the nearby District Council. Some were representatives from education bodies, NGOs and school sponsoring bodies. Most guests were very close friends of WFJLPS and they were either Principals or delegates of schools from the neighbouring or nearby districts, from kindergartens, primary, secondary to tertiary institutions.
What impressed the external guests and parents most was not only the performance produced by our performing teams, such as the Chinese Drum, Cheerleading, Swimming, Orchestra, Choir, flag raising and the services team, etc., but the confidence shown on each face, including students, teachers, supporting staff and parents, and the engagement and attitude towards the school that were demonstrated to the audiences counted highly! The Opening Ceremony received very promising feedbacks and compliments and it was no doubt that this must be a collective effort created by the whole school. Please accept my wholehearted gratitude to all of you! Your every bit of effort in making our school better and greater is highly appreciated!
